Hearts, Farts and Shopping Carts

Yes yes.. another month gone, another Paypal balance transferred.  I hope everything has been productive for you guys and gals in 2009 – I’ve been doing my best to keep busy and remain afloat in this massive Internet ocean.  As you’ve been noticing I’m starting to get back in the groove with regards to posting and keeping fresh content for the search engines – and in actuality, I post because I like to hear from you guys (as you’ve probably noticed I don’t do tutorial type posts anymore).

I think the biggest obstacle was figuring out how I can shift my objectives while still expressing myself in a fashionable manner.  Making money online is no longer a mystery to me, but rather a daily task which I absolutely love doing.

Hearts…

So Valentines day is approaching, and if you haven’t already, it’s time to get some of that seasonal affiliate money, right?  I dunno.. I find I’m more motivated if I treat everyday like it’s a special occasion to make money online.  Sure, people’s online shopping frequency may increase over Valentine’s day – but it’s one day, one month and one shot.

I’m definitely considering running a few ads that will funnel traffic to some CPA offers like Nintendo Wii, iPhone and other popular gifts desired by the women we love.  Let’s face it guys, we do most of the shopping on Valentines day – so if you are thinking of running a few campaigns or promoting a particular product, be sure you’re targeting the male audience.  If you’re great a targeting niche markets, then I would say fuck the male market and really snipe the female shoppers, because most big time players are probably targeting the male audience – which means there’s less competition towards the female purchasing traffic.

Here’s an idea:  Create a little one page website with a poll that collects information regarding “what do you want for Valentines day?” and advertise the page via your facebook, twitter, etc.. You could pretty much gather results and have your campaigns pointed out to you.  Hmmm.. That really wouldn’t take much to put together.  Good job Elijah – Thanks Elijah, you’re so smart – Aww, thanks man. I really appreciate it.

What do you guys have planned for the Valentines day traffic?

Farts…

Veronica and I have severely shifted our diet to consist of 99% organic goods – and it feels amazing!  Physically, I noticed a decrease in the “bloated” look of my face/gut within the first week.  It’s now been 2 months, and I wake up feeling energized almost every morning – and that is something that I never felt before.

Along side eating all organic, we’ve stopped purchasing meat and dairy products, but we’re not necessarily vegan – let me explain:  I could never go straight vegan or vegetarian because I love meat.  Steak, chicken wings, steak, um.. steak… I could never give up the pleasure I get from the combination of a bbq, a steak and a cold beer.  What we’ve done though is stopped purchasing meat and dairy products, so it will never be found in our own fridge.  If I’m over at a friends, or we’re out at my favorite steakhouse, then you better believe I’m treating myself – but that is the keyword.  It’s a treat, not a daily consumption.

We decided this based on many obvious factors such as the chemical preservatives, steroids, and other variables that are in the meats served to the general public, as well as the sheer brutality of how the animals are kept and killed in the processing plants.. it’s like something out of a horror movie – and we just couldn’t bare with the thought of purchasing and eating something that was gutted alive while hanging upside down by it’s ankles on a zip line.

Anyways.. I wanted to comment as I’m sure a few of you are of the vegetarian/vegan/organic persuasion:  eating well makes you fart like a hell storm!  Not that Veronica and I ever had problems letting it rip before (quite the opposite) but it seems to be more regular and often now that our diet has shifted – which is awesome because it’s free laughs!

I guess the body needs to detox and rid itself of all the crap built up from the years of digesting chemically processed shit.  Also, we found this awesome company located here in Toronto that delivers our organic produce weekly to our door for $35!  They’re called FrontDoorOrganics, and they provide organic food delivery – everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to organic shampoo, soap, condiments.. pretty much everything you would need.  Sweet!

Shopping Carts…

I’m in the final stages of completing NicheOnDemand.com – which will be serving as my home base for niche website services etc.. Feel free to check it out and give me some feedback!  Anyways, I need to implement some sort of shopping cart element into the site, and want something a little more diverse than a Paypal button.  I’ve heard of e-junkie and a few others… Do you guys have any suggestions based on your own personal experiences?  I need something that gives me the ability to track, provide receipts emails to clients etc.. You know what I’m talking about.

So, what do you guys think based on what it is that I’m doing?

Cheers,

Elijah

  1. Man, I didn’t believe how much better I would feel by cutting back on crap food. We tried it for about a month and I definitely agree with you. Soon however, BBQ, fried chicken, and McDonalds came a callin. Good to see you and V taking care of yourselves.

Nicheondemand looks great, Man. I’m sure you’re going to do well with it.

  2. @T – Yeah man, it makes a huge difference! I was never a regular McD’s cat to begin with, but I know what you mean. With the fast paced life come quick food solutions – which often translates into extremely high levels of sodium (increases blood pressure etc..) and an overall lethargic feeling (body doesn’t digest crap that well). Get back on it homie! Your body is your temple – gotta treat it well, or cancer will come knockin or some shit!

Yeah dude, I’ve been busting mass with NOD, and it’s still not finalized design-wise, but I’m getting there. Thanks for the encouragement!

  3. I keep having bad reactions every time I get heavily into what seems to be health food. First I’ll feel energized, and then *boom*- something horrible happens to my body until I go back to “normal”.

I have, however, cut out caffeine entirely, and soda mostly- and my energy is more balanced, it’s easier to fall asleep, and easier to wake up. I still miss my tea daily, and my coffee weekly, but I’d hate to lose out on the improvement in my health and sleep patterns.

    BTW, NOD looks awesome!

  4. Well, ever since the SitePoint market slows down on me, I decided to jump on a couple of CPA offers to make some extra bucks …..BUT…. after signing up with NeverBlueAds, I was disappointed that they did not call me to verify. 🙁

So, I was doing some CJ leads and made around $130 in january. Well, at least I know I’m a bad affiliate marketer. 😉

  5. Hey man, congrats with the healthy eating! I wish I could eat more healthier but it will never happen I love my junk food too much! Especially Mcdonalds but I think that’s because the town I grew up in didn’t have a McDonalds so I have a lot of years to catch up on, that’s my excuse anyways!

As for NicheOnDemand. I’m no expert but seeing a paypal button, however ugly it is quite reassuring to me, than something that I haven’t heard of but I know absolutely nothing about shopping carts, so feel free to ignore this whole paragraph!

    McDonalds here I come! 🙂

  6. @WordVixen – Awesome! I’ve never been one for caffeine. Growing up I wasn’t allowed to drink soda etc.. so I guess it carried over for me into my adult years. But I do love an ice cold root beer every now and then. I think it’s all about baby steps.. and important thing I find that really makes a huge difference is the “well, it’s the weekend” binge eating.. Veronica and I would murder junk food on weekends.. and anything in binge fashion is the absolute worse. NOD is coming along, right? I’m very pumped for it to be finished so I can start marketing it!

@Gennaro – That’s a great approach man.. focus on that weekend traffic and yes, tons of people are going to want to get away for the weekend. Smart!

@Jake – Man, fiber is the gas king! Farting is one of the few things in life that make me genuinely happy. What kind of ideas did farting give you?

  7. Great to hear everything is working fine Elijah !

About the meat products, dude, I know what you mean when you saw the pictures/videos that were made in the plants – even the movie “Saw” doesn’t stand near them. For people who still think “Saw” is the ultimate horror and gore movie – check out – http://www.meat.org/

I don’t even buy meat in the shops anymore, I have found 3 small farmers in the country who have small farms and they feed their pigs and cows with organic (home stuff) food and I haven’t eaten more delicious steak for years. Whenever they are planning to kill and sell that stuff, they call me and I go and buy the stuff. The price maybe is little bit more higher than in shops, but the it’s worth damn every penny. The meat has no steroids, chemicals, no nothing – everything organic and how it should be. Like you, I can’t imagine myself living the “veggie” lifestyle.

I have only dealt with e-Junkie, and they provide good service, I like it and I use it. Can’t speak about others.

Crap… you got me thinking about the valentine’s gift, ahh… I hate when I have to buy a gift, it’s not the gifting I hate, I hate choosing the gift. But then again, a nice picture, maybe some perfume, chocolate, champagne and nice flowers always do the trick 🙂

  8. @Desmond – The market has definitely slowed down, that’s for sure! It was bound to happen. Now it’s time to teach others what we know and have learned. Dude, $130 aint that bad at all – I’ve never really focused on CPA stuff as much as I would like because I know the best results come from PPC traffic, and I’ve yet to wet my PPC feet as of yet.

@Mark – Hey dude, yeah.. McD’s is devilishly good, and equally as bad. I will never say that I will stop eating anything, but it’s just a matter of balance for me.. and being consciously aware of what I put into my body.. but man, do I ever love me a double cheeseburger…

@TheMoneyac – My cousin does the same thing. She buys the meat straight from a “natural” farmer – I’ve yet to experience the goodness that is real meet, at least I don’t think so. I’ve seen meat.org, and it is quite a mind fuck.. in a good way of course. Many many people have recommended e-junkie, so I think I might end up going with them eventually – still gotta finish up the site. Veronica and I don’t really do Valentines day.. it’s kind of silly, and plus her b-day is on the 24th..

  9. @Carrie – Sweet! Considering I’m not a designer at all, that means a lot. My inexperience often causes me to second guess design choices etc.. but it was a great theme that was easy to customize, so it made the process enjoyable! Still not sure how I feel about the tags in the section below the header..

  10. @The Almost Millionaire – What’s great about this day and age is there is a healthy alternative for almost every sinful desire you can think of. I’m a huge fan of burgers.. and I swear, when I make a veggie burger using the appropriately titled “worlds best meatless buger” (actual product name) with all the trimmings.. organic of course.. man does it taste good! Especially when cooked on the Foreman 360 grill! There’s great rice based ice cream that contains no milk and is all organic.. it’s some good shit!

  11. Hey, NicheOnDemand looks fab, really great idea, which I can see a lot of people getting involved in. I think it is going to be the uniqueness of your approach which will make it stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Let us know when it is all carted up and I will blog about it….now that may not bring you a great swarm of readers but every little helps right 😉
