I love the South. I have lived here all my life, and right now I only live about 2 hours away from Asheville. I love the area. But, I speak with the Southern accent, and I hate it. lol

We have been living in North Carolina for 7 years now. Asheville is about a 4 hour drive from Raleigh, but you are correct it is absolutely gorgeous. Did you visit the Biltmore mansion while you were there? North Carolina is definitely one of the better states in the US. I wish my friends would drive 13 hours to see us!

V- Sadly, no. My friend that went with me only had so much vacation time, and I was unemployed and broke so couldn’t afford hotel stays. But, Hubs and I have a dream of exploring every state in the country some day. Hopefully some day is before we’re too old to enjoy it.

Well, E brought up a HoodMeet in possibly NYC, or possibly at a blogger type conference. Since hubs and I aren’t planning a trip to Disney World next year, I should have the vacation time!

@anand – I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. I suppose because I’ve always lived in snow, I don’t appreciate it as much as I should. That being said, driving and commuting in snow is scary . . . and cold.

@busto – I love planes too, haven’t been on too many of them, but they still fascinate me. And planes have there own advantages. Flying over the Rockies on our way to B.C was one of the most spectacular things I’ve ever seen! Driving through the Appalachians was cool and different, especially with Mickey and Al. Are you going to be a pilot in 2010? Cause then you could fly us to Asheville next time we go . . .

@WordVixen – Were you able to stop in Asheville? It is such a great town! Totally geared towards local artists and musicians, I was in heaven. I am getting more and more risque with my point and shoot . . . love some of the results I got. When are we gonna hook up? Sounds like another road trip to me!

Hey, I’ve been to Asheville! Ok, actually, I’ve been THROUGH Ashville. I think I was going from Nashville to Boone, NC at the time. No snow at that time of year though.

And I so love the photo of the lights! (And yes, that pic of you two is really, really good. We’ll have to get you another good piccy when we hook up.)

@Anand – The bracelet is something my mother gave me when I was younger, it used to be hers. I don’t think it’s any thing religious or powerful… just a simple, silver bangle…

@Dave – You better get your ass flying in 2010 because I’ve got a storage locker full of Peruvian midgets in west Brampton that need to be “shipped”.

Sounds like everyone had a great time! That’s awesome! Road trips are fun and you’re right a great way to see stuff but i would much rather do a 3 hr flight then 13 hrs driving. Then again I have an obsession with planes and really need to work with planes!!! But that’s a 2010 goal! (rambling sorry!)
BTW what’s going on for new years?!?!?

wow…sounds like so much fun..And you know what, you guys can curse the weather there as much as you want, but I so much want to be around these snowy places…I have spent all of ten minutes in snow all of my life, and that was in some obscure part of the Himalayas here..How great it is to come out of home and see the place is all white..wow..

By the way, what’t the bracelet-like thing on Eli’s hand? I wear something very similar too, but that’s a religious thing..
